Granadatur.com is your first step in planning your visit to Granada, Spain. A source of information promoted by the City Council of Granada to help you to discover what there is to see and what to do in Granada:
The Alhambra is the red fortress which sits on the hill overlooking Granada and covers an area of approximately 140,000m². Once the residence of the Muslim rulers and their court, it is now one of Spain’s major tourist attractions. There are three parts to the Alhambra: the ornate Nazrid Palaces (you will be given a time to enter these), the Alcazaba (the battlements) and the Generalife (the gardens). Alhambra tickets are valid for a half day if you choose the general visit option.
If you are only coming to Granada for a day or two it’s worth getting your tickets in advance because there can be long queues and it may even be impossible.
The usual route around the Alhambra is 3.5km long and it takes 3 hours to visit the 3 areas of the Alhambra complex. There is a large car park and plenty of restaurants where you can get inexpensive meals and snacks.
Buying Tickets For The Alhambra
You can buy up to 10 tickets in advance but not for the same day. When buying your tickets, you will need to decide whether you want to visit the Alhambra in the morning or the afternoon, and what time you want to visit the Nazrid Palaces. It is no longer to buy tickets by phone from abroad.

TIME OF VISIT:

It takes at least one hour to get from the main ticket office at the Alhambra to the Nazrid Palaces. It is therefore a good idea to reserve tickets for the palaces from 10:00 onwards. If you buy tickets for the palaces at 8:30 or 9:00 in the morning, you will have to go directly to the palaces. In this case, rather than going to the main ticket office entrance, you should go through the Puerta de la Justicia entrance (see Alhambra map).
BUYING TICKETS BY PHONE:
To buy tickets with a credit/debit card, phone:
902 888 001 from Spain.
The operators speak Spanish, English and French.
You can choose between the morning session (08:30 – 14:00) or afternoon session (after 14:00) and also a time to visit the Nazrid Palaces.
BUYING ALHAMBRA TICKETS ON INTERNET:
You can also book tickets for the Alhambra on the web page: ticketmaster
Note: You will receive confirmation of your purchase by email. Don’t book the tickets unless you are giving it your full concentration: we have heard reports of mistakes but they appear to have been caused by user rather than system error.
It is also important to remember that even though children do not pay, they will need to obtain a ticket. If you purchase your tickets online, first choose the number of tickets for your group (adults and children) and then apply the corresponding discount in the next step.
You will need to provide proof of being a pensioner, young person or child.
This famous quotation by Francisco de Icaza can be found in the Alcazaba and loosely translated means: “Give him alms, woman, for there is nothing sadder in life than being blind in Granada
